Budgens of Aylsham- In-Store Services Retailer of the Year

On the 17th March 2016 the Directors and management of C T Baker Budgens of Aylsham attended the 2016 Convenience Retail Awards ceremony where the store was proud to be announced as the ‘In-Store Services Retailer of the Year’. The award recognises Budgens of Aylsham’s customer provisions, including its in-store Post Office, PayPoint, Lotto, parking and home delivery services. Competition from other retailers within the award category included Brownlies Best-One of Biggar, South Lanarkshire, and Xcel Retail Nisa of Moulsecoomb, Brighton. Receiving the award on the evening was Budgens of Aylsham Manager, Shane Woolston, who commented: “It is a fantastic achievement for the store and the team. It was our first time entering the Convenience Retail Awards and to win this award is absolutely brilliant. I would like to thank our staff for their hard work and dedication. This award would not have been possible without them.” On the evening, the store was also announced as a finalist in the ‘Best Large Convenience Store’ category. Charity Cheque Presentation at Budgens of Aylsham

On the 9th of March 2016, the team at Budgens of Aylsham presented a cheque for £6,215.47 to its charity of 2015, Little Acorns & Squirrels Residential Breaks for Children.   The cheque was handed over at the Aylsham store by MD of C T Baker Group, Mr Michael Baker, to Sue Smith, Team Leader of Little Acorns & Squirrels, with Assistants Joanne Galea, Ella Arnold, Claire Fowle, Nita Blayne and Budgens of Aylsham Store Manager Shane Woolston in attendance.   The team at Budgens of Aylsham raised the money throughout the year with tombolas, cake stalls, raffles, a charity car wash and various fundraising initiatives. The money will be used towards a new playroom and sensor room.   Squirrels Residential is a respite care unit for children between the ages of 5 and 18 with complex health & disability issues. The children all come from the local area or attend schools within Norfolk and can stay for up to five nights a month. Charities of the year 2015

Budgens of Aylsham will be raising money for the Squirrels short break respite unit in the town.  Squirrels provide essential care for children aged between five and 18 years, it is a much-loved residential unit which acts as a home from home for scores of children with complex health needs and disabilities. Squirrels, together with its sister unit Little Acorns, at Gorleston, provide accommodation for between two and five nights each month. During the week, those staying at the centre will continue to go to school, while at the weekends they can enjoy a variety of activities, such as art and craft sessions and baking, while also making the most of the unit’s sensory room and soft play area. The staff also arrange regular excursions for the children and young people, who come to Squirrels from across Norfolk. On Saturday, February 28th 2015 , CT Baker Budgens of Aylsham were delighted to present a cheque for £5297.49 to their chosen charity of the year, Girl Guiding, Aylsham branch. This record total was raised through in-store events such as tombolas, cake sales, bag packing and raffles, with a different fundraising initiative taking place almost every week! All proceeds from carrier bag sales and money raised through in store customer contributions were also donated. Collecting the donation on behalf of the Girl Guiding was District Commissioner Rachel Sidell and the cheque was presented by Jane Gurney-Read, Director of the CT Baker Group and Shane Woolston, Store Manager. The CT Baker group would like to celebrate the fantastic efforts of the entire team at Budgens of Aylsham, who have worked tirelessly to support a fantastic local cause and one that plays a huge part in the community of Aylsham.
