C T Baker Group Reveals its Local Food Supplier of the Year 2019

On Thursday 9th May, C T Baker Group proudly welcomed a host of the Norfolk region’s finest producers to its annual local supplier awards.

Held at the Feathers Hotel, Holt, the 2019 C T Baker local supplier awards marks the 8th year of the C T Baker local supplier event — a celebration of the many local producers to be found at the C T Baker Budgens stores and Bakers & Larners Food Hall.

In recent years, the award’s winners have included Sharrington Strawberries, Martin’s Farm, Cornerways Nursery, Broadland Hams, H V Graves butchers and last year’s winner, Havensfield Eggs. This year, C T Baker Group has revealed its local supplier of the year as Mrs Temple Cheese.

The evening’s two runners up were D & F McCarthy and Black Shuck Ltd.

Guests at the event were treated to a three course menu incorporating produce from the many local suppliers in attendance.

On the evening, a raffle was held in aid of C T Baker Budgens of Aylsham and Holt’s 2019 charities of the year — Walnut Tree Health & Wellbeing and Macmillan Cancer Support North Norfolk.

C T Baker Group’s close relationship with its local suppliers dates back to 1982 whereby a range of products from Pointen’s Dairy, Melton Constable, were introduced at the Bakers & Larners Food Hall. At that time, Pointen’s Dairy was one of the earliest Norfolk dairy farms to pursue the diversification of their produce, and many other firms would soon follow suit to find their place in the store.
